August 28th
Day 2: Nha Trang - Dalat (160km)
Today we ride into the stunning mountains and countryside of the REAL Vietnam! With a little morning traffic, we are soon out of Nha Trang and heading towards the Central Highlands. As we make our way up the mountain pass, heading towards the hill top retreat of Dalat, you can enjoy some breathtaking views from high up on the mountains. Famed as the ‘Swiss Alps of Vietnam,’ Dalat holds some very unique European-influenced architecture and has a cooler climate than the surrounding areas. Dalat was a popular respite for commanders and war correspondents alike who were fortunate enough to escape the front lines. Many strategies were devised here, though Dalat was largely untouched by the fighting. However, it was in fact home to the National Military Academy. Dalat today is famed as the city of love; partially owing to its flower growing, it has become a popular holiday retreat for young Vietnamese couples. Evenings are cool and the local night market is a must-see.
August 29th
Day 3: Dalat - Lak Lake (155km)
Ready to Ride? We’ve got another great day ahead! Back in the saddle, we ride from Dalat to Lak Lake. Featuring winding back roads that carve through coffee fields and rural farms, this is an outstanding ride. Plenty of stops along the way allow us to try some local coffee and visit an old (and very interesting!) silk-making factory. We will then pass through some small villages, where you will see countless farmers tending crops Vietnamese style! Roads in these parts are often shared by farmers and livestock, children walking to and from school etc. So keep focused!
You‘ll soon get accustomed to the low speed riding in Vietnam. Not only is at necessary for safety, but it also allows you the time to really take in the sheer beauty of this truly incredible country. We will then arrive at our overnight guesthouse, offering quality rooms with aircon & wifi. Better still, we are located across from Lak Lake and the surrounding rice fields! Not to mention the constant flow of passing elephants.. Did anyone mention a cold beer too?! Local foods in these regions are super fresh and tasty... Lak Lake is home to several minority tribes and some traditional villages that are well worth taking the time to look at.
August 30th
Day 4: Lak Lake - Buon Ma Thout (125km)
Easy start into today: We saddle up and ride into the Dak Nong province, which was the scene of many conflicts and heavy bombing by the US Airforce. Today these regions are farmed coffee plantations. The roads winding through the regions provide not only great riding, but also a true insight of this mighty country. Our lunch stop is at the impressive Dray Sap waterfalls - great for dip while our lunch is prepared! Back out on the road, our ride will have us arriving at our Boun Ma Thout Hotel around 3pm. Time to relax, take a dip in the pool and sip a cool drink...
August 31th
Day 5: Buon Ma Thuot - GM Doc Let Resort Remote Beach Paradise (220km)
Today we will head out of BMT for our 220km ride through stunning mountain ranges and wide open valleys, home to rich farming lands. With views for miles ahead, we will pass an interesting array of farming life, home made tractors, buffalos pulling ploughs, duck farming in rice fields and much more. Some long stretches of open country, then as we approach the coast, we pass by some interesting salt farms. The afternoon sees arrive at what you can best call Paradise! Our resort is located on a beautiful beach, with our villa-designed rooms offering a great sense of comfort. Take a relaxing dip in the warm and crystal clear tropical sea! Just a short swim out, there is a large rock that serves as a home to a huge array of colourful fish. Handy to have some swimming goggles for this adventure! The resort restaurant offers outstanding food, right on the golden shores of this incredible location. Rest up and get ready for our final day of riding..!
September 1st
Day 6: Doc Let - Nha Trang
You won’t believe this place!!! We’ve got a great day of riding ahead for our final leg of the adventure, so after a morning beach stroll and a dip in the sea, we will set off back on the road. With our final destination of Nha Trang in sight, this last stretch of riding includes some amazing coastal vistas! We hit a straight section of road before passing through plenty of local fishing villages and a harbour with a HUGE fleet of fishing boats. This brilliant coastal section of road is carved into the side of a mountain that drops down into the deep blue sea. Amazing views can be seen out towards the nearby islands as we roll into Nha Trang and arrive at the VMT HQ. The conclusion of this epic adventure includes an overnight stay in our Nha Trang Hotel. Enjoy the night to say goodbye to your new friends and the VMT team and crew! Flight transfers the following day are included in the package, though some might want to stay for a few extra days and enjoy the beautiful city of Nha Trang. Advanced booking is highly recommended.
