Welcome to our newest & exciting VMT tour working in conjunction with our Cambodian counter parts . THE ROAD TO Cambodia. 14 days - 1900km, Vietnam & Cambodia, this cross-border adventure explores regions rarely seen by the outside world.

Day 1- Nha Trang to Vinh Hy = 99km
Good morning Nha Trang!. After a great night meeting our fellow riders at the VMT welcome dinner. followed by a good nights rest in our very welcoming hotel, riding gear on. We transfer across to the VMT Headquarters to meet our awaiting steeds followed by a rider briefing, we are ready for adventure. "Helmets on!" We ride south on the Great Ocean road offering jaw dropping views, riding down past Cam Ranh bay.
Ride some main road before turning off onto this superb twisty road, carved into the rocky cliff outcrops, passing small villages. Stopping to take in some of the most stunning views before rolling into the chilled coastal village of Vinh Hy. Overnight stay at the Vinh Hy resort . This shorter day ride is a great intro for what’s ahead. After lunch we jump aboard a boat to checkout the local sights. If boating is not your thing , there is a huge pool & lots of small cafes & bars nearby overlooking the bay .
Day 2 -Vinh Hy - Dalat = 140km
Saddle up as we leave the coast & head for the hills. The ride starts with some more coast road before switching for the hills, riding paved rural back roads through countryside farmlands into the Central highlands. Heading towards the mountain top city of love, Dalat which is centered around a lake, famed for its unique French colonial heritage architecture. The climate is noticeably cooler, with an elevation of 1500m. Night markets, . art & music culture is big here. Enjoy a great overnight stay in a grand hotel .
Day 3- Dalat - Buon Ma Thuot = 206km
Good Morning Vietnam! Helmets on, today has us riding a range of small country twisty back roads through rural landscapes, Stops include the famed silk factory & coffee plantations . These roads are often shared by local farmers & livestock. Passing traditional villages there’s heaps to see . Our overnight stay is complete with a great pool While the evenings are free to enjoy as you wish . we often end up all joining as a group in one of the local bbq restaurants. Our friendly team join us making for an entertaining evening .
Day 4 - Buon Ma Thuot - Tuy Hoa =195km
Riding the back roads through this great country is simply superb!.Passing through regions that are rarely seen by the outside world, huge rice fields. incredibal vistas . We wind our way towards the rugged headlands of Tuy Hoa which is still considered off-the-beaten-path beach scene, thats just begging to be explored . Tuy Hoa was once used as an airbase by the Americans during the war. Dotted with small fishing villages & dramatic coast. Our overnight stay is close to the beach!
Day 5 -Tuy Hoa - Quy Nhon = 95km
Good morning Vietnam!, early mornings in Vietnam is always a great time to explore the local streets, where locals are busy out exercising and swimming . We have a later start today! Grab some extra sleep or stroll the beach for an epic sunrise, take a dip in the ocean, enjoy coffee & breakfast with a great view . Todays ride take us to Quy Nhon, exploring the local villages & rugged coastline where the mountains edge the ocean . We ride old timber bridges.
Enjoy spectacular views of coconut palm-lined beaches, rice fields and the well-preserved towers from the ancient Kingdom of Champa. Quy Nhon in Vinh Dinh province, served as the Cham capital for 500 years, from the late 10th century until 1471, when it was finally taken by the Vietnamese from the north. Visiting the impressive Cham towers and bare remains are a powerful reminder of the rich history of what is now Vietnam. Famed for its beaches and great Vietnamese food. Overnight stay with nearby bars & restaurant to enjoy a brew with an awesome view .
Day 6 : Quy Nhon - Pleku =165km
We stay our goodbyes to our welcoming hosts in Quy Nhon. Todays ride takes us to Pleiku, located in the northern region of the Central Highlands, known for its volcanic lake. Its the capital of the Gia Lai Province, inhabited mainly by the Kinh ethnic group. Pleiku was strategically important during the American war.We pass a number of Martyrs cemeteries, a humbling experience to see the rows of identical graves of soldiers who died during the American war . As we venture deeper into the real Vietnam, overnight in a large hotel in the centre of town. Big day ahead tomorrow as we cross borders into Cambodia backed with a 300km ride .
Day 7- Pleiku - Stung Treng = 300km
Ready for another action packed day! . We have an early start & ride to the border. We stay goodbye to our trusty steeds. Checkout from Vietnam . check into Cambodia . Visa on arrival here . Takes a bit of processing.We are greeted by our Cambodia team & crew. Some of our VMT crew will continue with us. When l say its a big day ! Yep we have a big miles to cover. We jump aboard our new steeds and we're off . Cambodia is noticeably poorer compared to Vietnam. The welcoming smiles from the locals is just a touch of this truly incredible part of the world, welcome to the kingdom of Cambodia. We ride to Bunlang for Lunch and then a longer stretch to Stung Treng, located on the banks of Mekong river . This region sees very few outsiders.
Roads are often shared by homemade trucks & scooters hauling huge trailers, fully loaded. Its incredible to see. Life is simple in these regions, with many living very basic lives. We cross over the Mekong river before reaching our resort on the banks of the mighty Mekong . We are here for 2 nights & your backside will thank you . The restaurant & bar overlooks the river towards southern Laos, great food,chilled drinks. Our private bungalows are fantastic with a private balcony, stone & timber bathrooms, amazing river views & surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Chill-out with your favorite beverage with an epic sunset over the river.
Day 8 - Stung Treng
Wake up to a beautiful vista across the mighty Mekong. Homemade powered canoes can be seen heading to the local market with a fresh catch of fish!. Enjoy a relaxing morning . Just out the gate is a local village which is well worth a wonder. Late morning we head out for a ride to checkout the simple life that surrounds this region We swing by a local school, kids here rarely see outsiders. If you packed some small gifts this is a great location to hand them out.
Day 9 - Stung Treng - Siem Reap = 310km
A big ride today as we head on mainly straight flat road, no shortage of interesting scenery.We say our goodbyes to our friendly hosts, ride out through the village with plenty of waves from our village friends. We ride through Streng Trung city which lies at the confluence of the San,Kong, & Mekong rivers. The area around Stung Streng is inhabited by the mountain Mon-Khmer, Valley Khmer, and Lao-Tai peoples. The main agricultural product is rice . Riding these back roads sure does give you a good insight into the local way of life . things to see along the way that you just don’t see anywhere else in the world.
We ride to Siem Reap, the second largest city in Cambodia. Home to Angkor Wat (Wat Temple) is the central feature of the Angkor UNESCO world Heritage Site. It is considered the largest religious structure in the world . Dating back to the 12th century . Siem Reap is a popular tourist town and has a big array of local craft markets, restaurants & bars. We arrive to our welcoming hidden oasis complete with a very nice pool . Enjoy !
Lunch back at the resort and an afternoon ride is available to those who like to venture out again. Beer o’clock & soak in the atmosphere .
The timber restaurant offers amazing sunset views & great bar & food to be had . This truly is a fantastic location
Day 10-Siem Reap - Angkor Wat
Good Morning Siem Reap . Time to go visit these truly incredible temples . We jump aboard some local Tuk Tuks and head out for a remarkable day exploring. There is a fair amount of walking so some good footwear is recommended. Bring your camera. Its like stepping back in time. This place is like something straight out of Indiana Jones, there’s a deep sense of feeling here.
There’s nothing in the world that compares to Angkor . We plan to be back early afternoon so you have time to relax and enjoy Siem Reap .
Day 11-Siem Reap - Kampong Cham = 256km
Today sees us riding south towards our next destination, Kampong Cham located in the Mekong. Known for its French colonial buildings. Our ride has plenty of bum stops & sights. Check out the local roadside statue carvers turning massive rocks into works of art, Incredible. Midway has us stopping in at Kampong Thom city for lunch. Back in the saddle for our final destination Kampong Cham. Our Kampong Cham hotel overlooks the river . Time to pop the esky for a well deserved drink . People watching over a few brews is always great !
Day 12 - Kampong Cham - Phnom Penh =120km
We are on the final stretch of this incredible ride . We take the back roads that wind through local villages and a couple of ferry rides. With our final ferry ride takes us to the edge of Phnom Penh and within a couple of km from our riverside hotel. This great location is in the centre of Phnom Penh. Great views with a rooftop pool & bar . Welcome to Phnom Penh
Day 13 City Tour by Tuk Tuk
Today we head into the grim and darkest history of Cambodia under the hands of the cruel Khmer Rouge . Aboard our Tuk Tuks we head through the hustle & bustle of Phnom Penh out to the killing fields at Choeung Ek a former orchard in Dangkao that was used as the killing fields between 1975 and 1979. We learn about the horrors that took place there, visit a large memorial to the 17000 Cambodians who died at the site.
Next is a journey across to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum A former high-school used as a security prison known as S-21 . An estimated 20.000 people were imprisoned at Tuol Sleng and it was one of 150 -196 torture & execution centers . Afternoon sees us back at the hotel. To unwind . Our hotel has a great rooftop pool . 5pm we jump aboard a boat for a sunset river cruise, drinks & dinner .
Day 14 .
Good morning Phnom Penh . To take a short walk across the Royal Palace & Silver Pagoda and the National Museum of Cambodia . This is the final day of a remarkable adventure.
